The 2009 E-FAITH meeting took place in Calais, in the Cité Internationale de la Dentelle et de la Mode and in 2001 in Tilburg, with its splendid textile museum.

When driving on the motorways between Calais (France), through Belgium (Flanders) to Tilburg (The Netherlands) one makes a ride through the European region which certainly holds the longest and richest textile history and heritage, from the early middle ages till the modern spinning, weaving and tapestry mills of today. The trail can illustrate all raw materials (wool, flax, cotton, silk, hemp, jute,... artificial fibers), every step in the production (from retting the flax in rivers till the spinning, weaving, knitting and finishing). All finished products have been made or are still produced in this area (cloth, lace, tapestry, rubbans, ropes,...) and used in fashion and daily life.
This can be experienced via historic sites and buildings, exhibitions, museums and private collections, rich archives,...

Why not start to interprete, present and enhance this history and heritage together ?
