12-14.11.1999

During this meeting participants and representatives of organisations of industrial and technical heritage of Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom agreed upon the Statutes of the new Federation of Associations of Industrial and Technical Heritage.
The board or the general assembly of the present, represented and apologized associations are requested to formally ratify these statutes.

The meeting appointed an interim board of directors who's mandate is to govern the federation until next general assembly, to promote the federation and its aims, and to take all necessary steps to get the federation as soon as possible registered incorporated.
This board of directors is composed of :

Joan Munt (Spain), president
Jürgen Berger (Germany), Adriaan Linters (Belgium), Paul Saulter (United Kingdom), Jurrie Van Dalen (Netherlands) and Evangelia A. Varrella (Greece), members of the board

The meeting also agreed upon a set of working groups who shall develop specific activities and topics: to produce and update the CD-Rom already decided at the previous Barcelona meeting; to set up a website; to publish a newsletter.

The meeting discussed further gatherings, e.g. in Greece and in the U.K. in 2000.

The meeting decided to stimulate the setting up of specific and thematic networks between industrial and technical heritage associations across Europe, and to start a discussion to establish a 'code of ethics' for industrial and technical heritage associations.

The meeting agreed to launch a campaign for a European Industrial and Technical Heritage Year based on the Memorandum proposed during the meeting. If possible this European Industrial and Technical Heritage Year should take place in 2002.

The organisations did agree to promote the federation and its aims in their country and in those countries that were not yet present at this meeting.

Signed at Harelbeke, November 14th 1999
